March Madness

March Madness is in the air. Even if you are not a fan of basketball, this is still a great time of year. We are wrapping up winter, getting ready for spring, and there are all kinds of things going on to help us get moving. I know for me winter tends to bring out my hibernation tendencies. It’s cold and sometimes gloomy, but we have so much to look forward to in March.

This is the time of year where you need to get into the “taxes state of mind” if you have not already. Tax Day is April 15th, and you are in the final stretch to get all of your documents in order and get your taxes filed. Hopefully, you have been organized throughout the past year, and this will be easy. If not, then you have a chance to start fresh this year. It really can be as simple as starting a file for tax documents and anything you know you will need in 2017 – just drop it in there. You can even call this step one of your spring cleaning, and you’re off to a good start.

While doing your spring cleaning you can also take stock of your personal possessions. We all like to think that we are prepared for an emergency or difficult time, but it never hurts to make sure.

Take some time to make an inventory of large or expensive items. Do you have the serial number, receipt, warranty information? If something were to happen would you be able to show documentation for your possessions? So dust off the back of the TV, make a note of the model and serial numbers, and keep them in a safe place. A good tool to use to do this is the Encircle app (iOS and Android) or even just a simple spreadsheet will work too.

We hope that you are looking forward to this change in seasons as much as we are and use it to clean up some personal housekeeping items.

And don’t forget about daylight savings time on the 13th. Spring forward those clocks!
